Residential Services?

Many customers tell us they need a pick up from there home but do not realize all that entails a residential pick up. To begin, there usually is a surcharge for a residential pick up when compared to shipping to a business with a dock or performing a terminal pick up. The reason is that smaller trucks are needed to pick up freight from residential addresses. Every morning, trucks are dispatched to a particular route, all residential pick ups are performed by drivers with these smaller trucks, so just because a 48' tractor trailer may be able to fit down your driveway, does not mean it will fit down the driveway at the next stop. When there are residential fees every pick up location is charged for the trucks residential access fee.

If your package is over 60 lbs, you will also require a means of lifting the package into the back of the truck. If you do not have a forklift or some other type of machine to load the trailer, then we will need to bring a liftgate to load your freight from the ground up into the back of the trailer, there is sometimes a fee for this type a special equipment. As a rule of thumb, residential pick ups are curb to curb service for freight picks ups. If you need some other special service such as inside pick up, inside delivery, crating, guaranteed delivery or appointment notifications, be sure to let your dedicated representative know in advance of the pick up so we can make sure the necessary measures are taken so that the shipment goes smooth.
